Well I decided to finally get some java moss for my tanks. I want to give some floating cover and tie some to my driftwood in my 30 gallon. I found a pretty reputable seller on eBay that was out of New Jersey. He is sending me a ziplock bag filled with it. I figure I can use it in both my 10 gallon and my 30 gallon. Hopefully he will ship out on Saturday, like he said, and I will get it Monday sometime. I didn't get to work on my stand on Monday, I was feeling a little under the weather. I plan on finishing it tomorrow and getting on at least one coat of paint. Hopefully this weekend I can get it setup and stocked with the first few fish. I am anticipating only a mini-cycle since I am using a seeded filter cartridge, plants, gravel and other decor from my 10 gallon. I will post some pictures once I get the stand done, and my portion of java moss that I got. If anyone is interested here is eBay auction, still had three available. Almost finished up the stand last night. I got the legs mounted, tested it to make sure the top frame would set on top. Cut the 1/4" Birch plywood for the sides and nailed it on. They say pictures are worth a thousand words so here:
Legs are done, testing the top frame.
A close-up of the notches I had to do on the bottom 'shelf'... I will caulk these later.
Top nailed on and outside plywood added. I will be covering the insides as well. That is where I stand as of now. I still have to cover the inside to hide those 2x4's in the corners. I also have to cut out the front plywood and attach. Then comes the sanding, caulking and painting on Monday. What do you think?! |

I have gone through and updated the About me page, the Media page, and the Links page. I have added quite a few links to some online aquarium stores and a few communities that deal with fish keeping. I will be posting some more tomorrow once I get a chance to finish up the construction of the stand. Hopefully by mid week I will have the 30 gallon filled up and cycling. Thanks for your support! |
